JarlaxleArtemis (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log) was a persistently uncooperative editor who now trolls and vandalizes. He has a long history of disruptive activity which has resulted in several short-term blocks, three Requests for Arbitration, an unprecedented ban from all Wikimedia projects and a community ban from Wikipedia.

During his second arbitration case, it was discovered that he had created almost 50 accounts to harass other Wikipedians, and also personally attacked a member of the Wikimedia board. As a result, he was banned from all Wikimedia projects by order of board member Anthere on September 18, 2005. In an unusual move, he was allowed back on probation two months later, but was community-banned from Wikipedia on September 17, 2006 for continued misbehavior.

Since then, he has been harassing editors and administrators by posting personal attacks and personal information with throwaway sockpuppet accounts, and by abusing the password request feature to perform network flooding. He may also be using sockpuppets or anonymous IPs to continue his pre-banning behaviour, the most serious of which were wanton copyright infringement and mass creation of unhelpful or incorrect redirects.

[edit] Current activities

  • Posting personal attacks and personal information. JarlaxleArtemis routinely vandalizes user pages and user talk pages by posting personal attacks. These attacks are often accompanied with personal information and contact details for the victim (e.g., [2])
  • Adding fraudulent deletion tags. He often posts spurious deletion or speedy deletion tags, particularly to pages dedicated to monitoring his vandalism. (e.g., [3])
  • Sockpuppeteering. (see below)

  • Impersonating and harassing other Wikipedians. JarlaxleArtemis has created a number of user accounts using or based on other Wikipedians' user names, real names, e-mail addresses, and web addresses. It was this activity, discovered during his second arbitration case that led to his brief ban from all Wikimedia projects. (see User:Linuxbeak/Admin stuff/JarlaxleArtemis)

JarlaxleArtemis often engaged in the following activities using his main account. His known sockpuppets have not been observed to engage in these activities, but it is possible that he has created one or more non-attack sockpuppet accounts to perpetrate them. They are listed here to help users and administrators identify such non-attack socks. For details, please consult JarlaxleArtemis's previous three Requests for Arbitration.

  • Wanton copyright infringement, particularly with images
  • Flouting of WP:MOS, WP:NOT, and other policies
  • Entering blank, misleading, or vexatious edit summaries
  • Removing deletion tags
  • POV edits
  • Removing warnings
  • Attempting to gain administrator privileges
  • Creating unhelpful or incorrect redirects
  • Posting machine-translated articles
  • Posting duplicate articles
  • Recreating deleted articles

Subject: Jarlaxle's harrassment and disruption by account creation

At Linuxbeak's request, I've looked up the IP address of the person who
has been spamming the new user log and [[Special:Listusers]] with
offensive usernames, often puerile attacks directed at Linuxbeak. Here's
the method I used:

*Used [[Special:Log/newusers]] to identify a single offensive username.
I looked up the IP address.
*Searched the recentchanges table for edits with that IP address. The
result was Jeremy Hanson.
*Searched for IP addresses with that username. The user was coming from
all over the 71.107.0.0/16 subnet.
*Searched for all account creations from that /16.
*Removed some of the entries that could have been false positives.
Hence in the log below, some of the rows are missing.

The first row below is a homograph, Psy%D1%81honaut in URL form. Row 19
is %DB%9E and row 20 is %E2%85%9D.
