[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Evans new.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Evans new.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Scm83x hook 'em 00:48, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Enthusiasm
While I find your enthusiasm about Plano related topics interesting and certainly close to my heart, at the same time, I believe that you need more time on Wikipedia contributing to articles in a group situation where others may help you along the way before you go it on your own and start creating dozens of articles concerning people and things of questionable notability. Also, several of the images that you have uploaded have been uploaded against Wikipedia's copyright policy. Claiming copyright on images which do not belong to you is in violation of our policy (as you have for the images of Jasper and Mayor Evans). You are new to Wikipedia, and you have been making many of the same mistakes that all new Wikipedians make. However, you do not seem to be learning from them; instead blazing ahead to a new set of articles. Please take some time and read up on WP:MoS and other process pages. I think you'll be a better Wikipedian for it. Thanks. — Scm83x hook 'em 00:55, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- Again, I ask you to please halt making new articles and templates when you are so unfamiliar with processes and procedures here on the Wiki. You're good-natured efforts are actually hurting the quality of the articles to which you are contributing. Please take the time to look around the Wiki at how things are done and consult similar articles and participating users before taking action on your own. — Scm83x hook 'em 02:26, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ==Re:Questions==
Thank you for your help with the articles. Just wondering, did you graduate from Plano Senior. What year? Longhornsg
- Due to privacy concerns across the Wikipedia, I do not discuss personal information with users.
- I have to agree with the previous user to comment here. Most of the articles that you have created are concerning people of dubious notability who will never have more than 2-3 paragraphs in their articles. You need to stop, as I suggested before and as this other user suggested, and read some guidelines in an attempt to familiarize yourself with, most importantly, article notability guidelines. Your article about Jasper High School is borderline notable for most people, but I am very sure that a high number of people would take issue with articles such as Doug Otto and Scott Johnson (politics). Although these people are somewhat important on a local scale, on a global scale, they are terribly unimportant. Wikipedia works on a global scale. Please consider this when creating new articles from now on. Additionally, it is considered rude that you have continued to be non-responsive to both my comments and those of others, instead going on creating more articles of dubious notability. Please take some more time on the Wikipedia before creating any more articles. Thank you. — Scm83x hook 'em 22:04, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Heyo, Steve Caruso here. There is a Request for assistance by Joehazelton (talk) on Peter Roskam. Would you be willing to take their case? If you will, please leave a note and sign under the entry on WP:AMARQ and change "(pending)" in the heading to "(open)." When you're finished with the case, set it to "(closed)". [edit] Jasper Image
The image is under a fair use license. However, it is reasonable that someone living in Plano close to the school could replace the image with a freely licensed one, so it is a fair use temp image. However, you, the article's main editor, have made no effort to replace the image over your tenure working on the article, despite the fact you live in Plano and clearly attended. The fair use replace image template clearly states that images for which there has been no attempt at replacement over a reasonable time period may be removed. This is what I did. You uploaded the image on July 1 2006, almost 3 months ago. You have made no effort to replace the image with a free use one (occassionally removing licensing and claiming improper copyright), so I removed the fair use one. — Scm83x hook 'em 02:58, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Please stop
From your continued actions on various image uploads, such as this, it is eminently clear that you have no grasp of Wikipedia image policy. I have tried to inform you about different rules regarding image policy and yet you still do not understand that there are copyright issues with images that are simply taken from Google Image or a random website. When the image tagging bot, OrphanBot, places a tag on an image you have uploaded, removing the tag does not make the image correct. Please try to understand why the image tag was placed there and fix it instead of removing it.
Until you have fully grasped image policy on Wikipedia, or at least admitted your ignorance of it and allowed others to help you, you cannot be a competent whole editor. Please stop uploading random images and asserting your own copyright on them. Please stop removing orphan tags when you haven't taken the time to understand why they've been placed. And please start discussing your edits and asking questions of other more experienced editors. We are here to help. Thank you. — Scm83x hook 'em 00:57, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Final Warning
This is your final warning. I have attempted multiple times in the past to inform you about image copyright policy on Wikipedia. However, instead of heeding my advice or even asking me concerning your clear misunderstanding of policy, you ignored me. Tonight, you claimed that you took two photographs (Image:Jasper Cafeteria.jpg and Image:Jasper Outside.jpg ) that can be clearly demonstrated were taken by someone else and are not yours as you claim in this edit summary. You have done this before with Image:Mainschool.png and others.
For me, this is the last straw. Lying about copyright is not acceptable behavior from any Wikipedian. In fact, continuing such behavior can result in punitive action. Don't let this happen! Ask questions; we have the answers. Do not continue as you have. Understanding copyright is an important part of editing Wikipedia. I hope you will contact me and cease these deceiving actions, instead of continuing and facing possible punishment. — Scm83x hook 'em 02:28, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Screenshots
Screenshots are not OK. They are fair use. — Scm83x hook 'em 02:24, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Tags
The tags should not be removed. Please consider the things you have put in the article as if you hadn't attended Jasper. Consider them as if you lived in Dallas, Denver, and then Djibouti. You will then see that much of the article needs to be cut because it is not truly important to our audience. — Scm83x hook 'em 03:25, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Plano ISD and Dallas ISD templates
Hi! Instead of creating a new template, I noticed that you instead inadvertently moved Dallas ISD to Plano ISD and changed it. Another guy moved the template back, causing Plano ISD to redirect to Dallas ISD. I fixed the problem; both templates are now separate :) WhisperToMe 03:28, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject Dallas
Hello! Nice to see that you signed up for the rickety WikiProject Dallas, which I've again picked up interest in. I'm not very good with administrative tasks.. but I do know that the WikiProject needs a lot of work. I added a rating system which is really just hijacked from the film articles.. it probably can be customized for our project but I'm not sure if it needs to. I put the Dallas, Texas article as an A-class article.. its the only one graded so far! ahha. I made some pretty kickass pages for the first few highschools in the {{Dallas ISD}} template, I might go put them in as B-class or something.. maybe lower, dunno, they're pretty comprehensive for their "importance level." Anyway, I need help getting this thing off the ground. I'm good at going around and adding the template to articles and grading and such, and looking for articles to add, but I'd really like some help getting the categories built per the WikiProject Film style of doing things.. Dallas articles are already some of the most comprehensive on the Wikipedia (check out the History of Dallas, Texas article and its subarticles if you haven't.. they're my babies and I'm proud of them (how lame)).. anyway.... im probably rambling, im tired, im going to sleep. see you around drumguy8800 C T 05:24, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Jasper Review
This is my lite version of a peer review for the Jasper article: User:Scm83x/jhs. I simply can't truly peer review an article that is in the current state that this one is. I don't even know where to start. These are my best suggestions of what to do to make it closer to acceptable. — Scm83x hook 'em 02:29, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I removed some of the paragraphs you deemed unimportant, however, I do not know why you want me to remove all the faculty and student information. If it is wrong just copied from the fact sheet, then why, is this correct? (The part about the class profile) It is straight copied as well. Also, about the campus additions--how are those incorrect? --Longhornsg 02:45, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
-
- The difference is that the PSHS information is notable. These are things that not all schools have (special vocational classes as was the original intent of the school, second most AP tests, 29/31 tests offered, 97% of graduates go to university). The Jasper info is simply mundane stuff (ethnic makeup, attendance rate, GPA breakdown). Also, the PSHS information is not copied near verbatim. — Scm83x hook 'em 03:08, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Plano District Map.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Plano District Map.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Image:Troydungan.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Troydungan.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok ☠ 21:58, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Concordia Newsletter
Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.
[edit] Help out now!
- Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
- Give people the Civility Barnstar.
- Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
- Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
- Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.
We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.
[edit] Decision Making
The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.
If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:DFW World.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:DFW World.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:DFW World2.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:DFW World2.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Unspecified source for Image:DFW World2.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:DFW World2.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:52, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 17:52, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:26, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Template:MayorsofDallasTexas
A template you created, Template:MayorsofDallasTexas, has been marked for deletion as a deprecated and orphaned template. If, after 14 days, there has been no objection, the template will be deleted. If you wish to object to its deletion, please list your objection here and feel free to remove the {{deprecated}} tag from the template. If you feel the deletion is appropriate, no further action is necessary. Thanks for your attention. --MZMcBride 22:03, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Evans_new.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Evans_new.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 13:19, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Jeranakers.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Jeranakers.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. High on a tree (talk) 20:17, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dotto.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Dotto.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:30, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Pat Evans (mayor)
Another editor has added the "{{prod}}
" template to the article Pat Evans (mayor), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 09:14, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
