Talk:Londres, Catamarca

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The most curious thing about this place is the name - I have read other sources claim that was a settlement known as Londres, then San Bautista de la Rivera and then Catamarca (Argentina 1516-1987: From Spanish Colonization to Alfonsín; Rock, David; University of Calfornia Press (1987)p.4) and the Spanish Wikipedia site claims that this is what became San Fernando de la Valle de Catamarca - a different city . However this city definitely still exists... Any ideas anyone --Pysproblem (talk) 10:28, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Aha - have a look here: http://www.catamarcaguia.com.ar/Historia/Su_Historia/EvolucionHistorica.php It seems that the city was originally founded as Londres in 1558, in Belen and was then refounded, in Belen as San Juan Bautista de la Rivera de Londres in 1607, which was then refounded in Pomán in 1633... not sure if that helps or not..--Pysproblem (talk) 10:31, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
