I think that the Straits Convention, 1841 showed the victory of Lord Palmerston.After the crisis of 1839-1840, about the Mehemet Ali and the Ottoman Empire, Britain and Palmerston were now in a great position to dominance in the Eastern question.Palmerston took this advantage to put the end of the Treaty of Unkiar-Skelessi,reducing the influence and replace the position of Russia in Eastern question.As Nicholas I was forced to accepted the treaty terms of Straits Convention.
