[edit] Women

Can the section on the status of women and elections be clarified - it might be taken to indicate that women weren;t eligible when they were. Jackiespeel 16:24, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

As far as I understand it the legislation and Bill they weren't eligible to be councillors until the enactment of the Qualification of Women (County and Borough Councils) Act 1907, and couldn't vote until the Representation of the People Act 1918. Lozleader 23:09, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

A good reference library should have a copy, bound up in a volume for the year 1899.Lozleader 13:10, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
