[edit] About Longos
It is a cluster of flower-decked houses on the north east coast overlooking a small fishing harbour. There are several mini-markets and a bakery, a couple of bars and a kafenion. At one end of Longos harbour stands the tall chimney from an abandoned soap factory. Just south of Loggos is an attractive shingle beach at Levericho. Its proximity to Loggos makes it a very busy site. There are shingle beaches nearby at Kipos and Marmari. The latter set in a bay with shade from the olive trees that grow down to the shoreline. There are small coves in the area of which many can only be reached by boat. Further south is Pounda, with access along a track from the main road. The track branches south and down a very steep track to a long pebble beach at Kipiadi.
The population declined sharply by over four-fifths that would resulted to become a ghost town, that was delayed and its population slowly recuperated by only three inhabitants. Several of its residents would live during the summer months as well as its relatives.
Longos hosts the Paxos International Music Festival annually. In 2007, the festival took place between August 28 and September 6.
[edit] Other
Longos has a school for the entire municipal district (the former community), a church, a restaurant, a tavern and a square (plateia). Its nearest gymnasium (middle school), lyceum (secondary school) are in Gaioi, the island capital.
