Longos, Achaea

Longos (Greek: Λόγγος), older and uncommon form Loggos is a village located in the municipality of Sympoliteia in the northeastern part of the prefecture of Achaia in the Peloponnese. The village is connected about 1 km north of the old road of GR-8 linking Patras and Corinth along with Aigio while the superhighway is to the south. The nearest interchange for the GR-8A superhighway is south. It is located about 7 km W of Aigio, about 40 km NW of Pteri and about 35 km E of Patras. Longos is about 1 km east of the 22nd parallel or 22° east line. The boundary with the provinces of Patra and Aigialia is to the west,

Longos has a school, a church, a post office, a beach, hotels, campgrounds and a square (plateia) in the central part. The area around Longos has olive groves as well as citrus fruits surrounding the area along which is the main production along with some other livestock. Forests are to the southwest and to the southeast and parts of Longos as well. Longos is famous for its beaches which cover much of its entire coastline to the north and its campgrounds including Longos Beach. There are about tens in the area including Akoli. The new road runs south of Longos and through the forests. It was constructed in the mid 20th century along with an interchange with two curves. It was opened a few years later. The panorama includes the hills and the mountains to the south and the west along with the northern part of the tall Erymanthos to the SW and the Panachaiko to the west along with another mountain near Omplos.
