Longboat roadrunners

Longboat Roadrunnersis a Toronto based club formed in 1980 to promote running and sportsmanship in general, and to provide a club atmosphere in which members may develop their running skills and participate in a program of social activities. Runners of all ages and skill levels are welcome in the club. Social membership is available to interested non-runners.

Longboat Roadrunners is named in honour of Tom Longboat, a native Canadian who achieved prominence as a distance runner in the years leading up to World War I.

The Longboat Roadrunners Club established the Longboat Roadrunners Award in conjunction with the University of Toronto, Faculty of Physical Education & Health. The Longboat Roadrunners Award is a financial award will be given on an annual basis to an aboriginal student who is a member of an Intercollegiate Team at the University of Toronto, with preference given to a long-distance runner. The award will be presented at the Faculty's annual T-Holders' Academic Excellence awards ceremony.
