Long View is a town in Burke and Catawba counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 4,722 at the 2000 census.

Long View is located at 35°43′34″N, 81°23′2″W (35.726132, -81.383811)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.5 square miles (9.1 km²), all land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 4,722 people, 2,028 households, and 1,269 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,339.3 people per square mile (516.5/km²). There were 2,165 housing units at an average density of 614.1/sq mi (236.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 82.08% White, 9.06% African American, 0.08% Native American, 3.68% Asian, 3.22% from other races, and 1.86% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.09% of the population.

There were 2,028 households out of which 24.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.5% were married couples living together, 13.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.4% were non-families. 31.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.89.

In the town the population was spread out with 22.5% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 92.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $33,491, and the median income for a family was $40,175. Males had a median income of $28,333 versus $23,272 for females. The per capita income for the town was $16,801. About 11.8% of families and 15.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 25.6% of those under age 18 and 13.6% of those age 65 or over.
