Long Black Train was a hit country single in 2003 for Josh Turner. The song hit #13 on the country charts and received heavy airplay on CMT and GAC. Not only did the song become popular in the country music industry, it received a fair amount of airplay on Christian television and radio as well.[citation needed]
Prior to the Long Black Train album release, "Long Black Train" was released as a 7" vinyl single.
"Long Black Train" was certified Gold for digital sales on June 1, 2006, three years after its release.

The music video for this song was shot in a few different locations along a railroad track. The various shots of Turner include him walking though a tunnel, standing on the tracks singing, and from above while he is playing guitar. The video features various characters, all of whom are struggling with drugs, alcohol, pregnancy, or other issues, and are shown on the train tracks as well.
The video was shot at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum and featured ex-Army Class Consolidation #610 as the locomotive.
