Long Bay Symphony Orchestra

The Long Bay Symphony Orchestra, named after the sixty mile long coastal area of North and South Carolina coast covered in the scheduled performances, was founded By Dr. Diana Swanner-Scroggins in 1988.

Dr. Won-Mo Kim served as the first musical director/conductor for the symphony from 1987 through the 1995 season. Dr. Charles Jones Evans has served the position since 1996.

The symphony has long been dedicated to educational programming and towards that has also founded the Long Bay Youth Symphony with Nan Hudson serving as the Musical Director for this offshoot of the Long Bay Symphony.

Last year the combined orchestras performed 30 primarily free concerts for over 20,000 people with approximately one third of that young people-defined as ages pre-school through high school.
