London International Airport or London Airport, (IATA: YXU, ICAO: CYXU), is located 5 nautical miles (9.3 km) northeast of the city of London, Ontario, Canada.
It was built in 1939 near Crumlin, on a location that was then outside the city limits of London but has since been annexed into the city. It was originally an air base under the command of the Commonwealth Air Training Plan, where pilots from the British colonies and former colonies were trained. It is now operated by the Greater London International Airport Authority.
In 2006, the airport handled 413,782 passengers[4], and in 2007 was the 20th busiest in terms of aircraft movements.[3] It serves Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz, Allegro Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and WestJet Airlines. It also provides services for cargo airlines.
The airport is classified as an airport of entry by NAV CANADA and is staffed by the Canada Border Services Agency. CBSA officers at this airport currently can handle aircraft with no more than 180 passengers, however they can handle up to 450 if the aircraft is unloaded in stages.[2]
Every June an airshow is held at the airport, which attracts aircraft and spectators from all over the world. However this past July the Airshow was held in St Thomas.
