London Design Festival

The London Design Festival was established in 2003 as an annual event to celebrate and promote London and the UK’s design creativity. It is an umbrella brand that brings together a diverse and unique group of partner organisations from across a range of sectors to stage London's biggest annual design event. Each year it enables new collaborations which bring exciting new projects covering every aspect of the creative industry and beyond.
The London Design Festival mirrors the uniquely diverse nature of London's design scene, which has an unparalleled breadth and depth compared with other international cities. Meanwhile, the number of international projects in the Festival continues to grow making it a fixture on the international design calendar.
It continues to develop and evolve creating new networks, stimulating growth in the sector, increasing the opportunity for trade, and enhancing the reputation of London and the UK as a place for creative excellence and innovation. Many designers and collectives across the UK contribute including The Cardiff Design Festival, which was established in 2005 has now become a major contributor to the London Design festival, with the best of Welsh design being showcased during the main London festival.
The Festival is a fixture on the international calendar attracting thousands of visitors from across the world. It is also international in its outlook with projects and collaborations involving London's international creative community and by being open to numerous initiatives from other world cities. The international side of the Festival will continue to grow in 2006 and beyond.
In past years the Festival has included a diversity of world-class talent and is now internationally the largest of its kind. Last year it attracted official delegations from over 30 countries. This year the Festival plans to maintain its diverse international reputation. Over 15 countries are already contributing, including Thailand, Austria, Norway, India, Dubai and Singapore.
