London Buses route H12 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. The service is currently contracted to Metroline.

The H-prefix of route H12 is misleading because like route H13 it does not enter Harrow Bus Station at all but runs between Stanmore Station and South Harrow via Harrow Weald, Pinner and Rayners Lane instead.
The H12 is the re-numbering of the former route 209 on 14 November 1987 as part of the Harrow Buses Scheme. Route 209 began on 14 May 1952 as a Monday to Saturday double deck route running from Harrow Weald Garage to South Harrow Station. On 23 January 1966 the route was extended during peak hours to Northwick Park, replacing the withdrawn route 230A. The route was converted to single deck during January 1971, initially using Merlins, Swifts from 1974, and then Leyland Nationals from 1979. The route was converted back to double deck in November 1985 using Metrobuses, and the peak hour extension to Northwick Park was withdrawn, being replaced by route 136, accompanied by an extension to Edgware replacing the withdrawn route 286 on 2 November 1985. The Edgware extension was withdrawn on 14 November 1987, along with the main service renumbering to H12. Double deck school journeys were retained under the 209 number, until 4 July 1992, when they were incorporated into the main H12 service.
At first, route H12 was operated by London Buses using Metrorider midibuses until Metroline gained the contract of the route in 1990 at Metroline's Harrow Weald garage using brand new Dennis Darts. Sovereign gained the contract of route H12 in 1999, at the Edgware garage but moved to Harrow when route 183 was converted to double deck in 2001, using brand new low-floor Dennis Darts and a Sunday service was also added in 1999. The school services were operated by Thorpe's using double deck Metrobuses.
When it came to the time to convert the H12 to double deck in late 2005 to cope with school loadings in Hatch End, but Sovereign's Harrow garage could not accommodate double deckers due to a low beam in the middle of the garage. So Sovereign surrendered the route to Metroline (in a swap for route H14) at their Harrow Weald garage, using brand new Volvo B7TL 10m / Plaxton President (VP) type double deckers and some older VP's were bought to top up routes 140 and the 182.
