[edit] History

Route 490 began on 23 August 1997, from the withdrawn section of route 90 between Feltham and Richmond. The route was initially run by London Buslines (now part of First London) between Hatton Cross and Richmond using low floor yellow single deck Dennis Dart/Marshall Capitals.

On 28 April 2001, the operation was transferred to Tellings Golden Miller (TGM) from Fulwell Garage using Optare Excels, which were replaced by Dennis Dart SLF/Plaxton Pointers in 2002. TGM passed to Travel London in September 2005.

In March 2008, Route 490 was extended to Heathrow Terminal 5 via Heathrow Terminal 4 and Cargo Area.
