[edit] History
Route 440 was introduced on 27 May 2002 to replace the former route H40, between Park Royal Asda & Turnham Green, and then continued from Turnham Green to Stamford Brook Bus Garage. The 440 was extended from Park Royal Asda to Stonebridge Park Station on 1 March 2003.
A new route 272 was also introduced the replace the section of route H40 between Turnham Green and Chiswick Grove Park.
Both 272 and 440 were transferred from London United to NCP-Challenger at their new Park Royal garage on 26 May 2007. Route 440 was also withdrawn between Turnham Green and Stamford Brook Bus Garage on this date, due to the bus garage being owned by the previous operators.
