[edit] History
Route 436 was introduced in on 8 February 2003 to replace the withdrawn section of route 36 between Lewisham & New Cross Gate and then it runs parallel with route 36 to Paddington Station. Route N136 runs the night service for the two routes.
The 436, is operated by London Central at their New Cross Gate garage and was the third route in London (after Red Arrow routes 507 and 521) to gain brand new bendy buses.
In March 2004 a bus on 436 caught fire on Park Lane, this was the third fire in as many months and the whole Citaro fleet, including the rigid version on route RV1, was subsequently withdrawn, and route 436 was suspended.[1] After a short period time modifications were made and the Citaro artics and were re-introduced, services on the 436 resumed a week later.
