[edit] History

This route began on January 1962 to replace trolleybus route 666 between Burnt Oak and Willesden Bus Garage as part of the trolleybus replacement program and to replace route 52 between Borehamwood and Willesden, running Monday to Saturday, the Saturday service was replaced by route 292A.

Withdrawn between Colindale and Willesden in 1965 and a Saturday and Sunday was introduced.

Diverted in Burnt Oak via Edgware Bus Station extended Monday to Friday at peak journeys to Grahame Park Quakers Course.

Diverted in Mill Hill to run direct to Edgware via Hale Lane.

Before being operated by Transdev London it was operated by London Transport's Edgware garage (EW); using RT type double deckers.

DMS's replaced the RT's in 1973 and the DMS's were replaced by Metrobuses in 1980.

The contract was transferred to London Contry North East's St Albans garage, but that was only for a short time and the allocation was transferred to Borehamwood Transport Services in Borehamwood with Scania double deckers.

Metroline operated the route from their Edgware garage in 1993, using their Metrobuses.

London Sovereign (now Transdev London) gained the contract in 1998 first using Volvo Olympians and now brand new Volvo B7TL 10.6m / Plaxton Presidents.
