Before being operated by Transdev London it was operated by London Transport's Edgware garage (EW); using RT type double deckers.

The contract was transferred to London Contry North East's St Albans garage, but that was only for a short time and the allocation was transferred to Borehamwood Transport Services in Borehamwood with Scania double deckers.
Metroline operated the route from their Edgware garage in 1993, using their Metrobuses.
London Sovereign (now Transdev London) gained the contract in 1998 first using Volvo Olympians and now brand new Volvo B7TL 10.6m / Plaxton Presidents.
