[edit] History
Route 240 was introduced in the 1950s and for most its history it was operated by Cricklewood Garage (W) and on Sundays by Hendon (AE). It is presently based at Edgware garage. Part of Cricklewood's allocation to the 240 was transferred to Hendon garage. The route was changed many times before it settled on an Edgware to Golders Green itinerary.
Edgware gained the whole allocation in 1986, and the route is now operated by Metroline using both Volvo B7TL / Plaxton President (VPL) double deckers and occasionally Dennis Dart SLF / Plaxton Pointer (DLD) single deckers. In 2007, Enviro 400 double deckers made their first appearance and in service can be as common as the VPL type.
