Lompoc wine ghetto
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Lompoc wine ghetto is a group of industrial buildings in Lompoc, California that house a number of notable wine producers, the majority of whom specialize in Pinot Noir or Syrah from the Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Ynez Valley AVAs (American Viticultural Area). [1]
Producers include the Longoria Winery, Fiddlehead Cellars, Palmina, Sea Smoke, Stolpman, La Vie Vineyards, Flying Goat, Presidio Wine, and several smaller labels such as Samsara, Holus Bolus, & Jelly Roll Wines.
Due to its cool maritime climate, its proximity to the Sta. Rita Hills between Lompoc and Buellton, and the reluctance of Santa Barbara County to permit wineries on agricultural properties, Lompoc is a convenient location to produce wine.
