Lommatzsch is a municipality located in the district of Meißen in the Free State of Saxony, Germany.

Lommatzsch lies amidst the so called Lommatzscher Pflege, an area of land that is featuring high quality loessic soil and therefore is mainly used agriculturally.

The Cities name is derived from Glumaci by the Daleminziern, which called themselves by a spring Glomaci.

First time the city was documentary called. |
12. August 1330 |
Landgraf Friedrich the Burggraf zu Meißen awards the Bierzins to Lommatzsch. So the city got the so called Braurecht. |
1386 |
Documented, that a mayor and a board existed. |
1412 |
The Ratsverfassung ordered a mayor and 9 boardmembers. |
1504 |
Start of building the current church. Three gothic spikes were set on the tower of the old one and a long hall was build. |
1539 |
Evangelism came to Lommatzsch and Ambrosius Naumann became first evangelian pastor. |
1550 - 1555 |
Building of the guildhall in its today size. |
1591 |

1607 and 1611 |
The plaque afflicted the town. 1350 people died. |
1618 - 1648 |
The Dreißigjährige Krieg does'nt spare the city. So the city was burned down 1632 by imperial troupes. 1645 were the buildings burnt again by the sweden. |

A Postmeilensäule was set on the market square. |

The church got a new organ. |
1849 |
First newspaper the Lommatzscher Anzeiger cause by the revolution. |

A court was built. |

The Gewerbeverein was founded. |

Inauguration of the schools main building. |

Foundation of the Freiwillige Feuerwehr. |

Disunion of church and school, so now two schools are existing. |

Gymnasium was built. |

Railroad to Riesa and 1880 to Nossen was opened. |

A narrow-gauge railway the Schmalspurbahn to Meißen and 1911 to Döbeln was opened. |

Lommatzsch was conquered by Sowjetunion |
29. April - 5. Mai |
Lommatzsch was conquered back by the germans. 36 by the population guilty called foreign workers and a thief (a 16 year old boy) were shot in front of the church by SS. After the defeat of Berlin, the SS abscond and the calamity of the red army befall us. |
