From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hello, and Welcome to Wikipedia!. Please note that both American English spellings and British English spellings are both regarded as equally "correct" in Wikipedia. We do have a convention of trying to use British spellings in articles on British topics, and American spellings in articles on American topics, but in general the practice within an article is to use whichever spelling that article started with, and to tolerate minor inconsistencies.
The alternative is a series of running battles as spelling zealots on both sides change everything continually back-and-forward to their "more correct" spelling, getting in the way of our primary goal of writing an encyclopedia.
Please see Wikipedia:Spelling#National_varieties_of_English for a more detailed description of our policy.
If an article title has the "wrong" spelling according to your tastes, please consider making a redirect, rather than moving the article. This avoids the creation of unnecessary double redirects which can be generated when a page is moved, and require manual fixing to make sure the page remains easily accessible by all users. -- The Anome 11:18, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC)
Hmm... Sounds reasonable, although it stings the eyes to see the two spellings mixed.
[edit] Marsupium
I changed this to redirect to Marsupial. I agree that the redirect to Ileo-anal pouch was not relevant to the marsupial pouch, but please don't make articles that just say "description needed." It's considered a bit rude by other Wikipedians. If you don't have time to improve it yourself, just leave a note in the talk page. Thanks, FreplySpang (talk) 17:58, August 5, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Replicants Cyber Assault.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Replicants Cyber Assault.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:25, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
