Lohizun

Lohizun or Lohitzun / lohits̪un / is a Basque word for 'silty place'. It is a derivate of lohi 'mud'.
It may be found in:
- Lohitzun-Oyhercq, a commune of Pyrénées-Atlantiques
- Donibane-Lohitzune, Basque name of Saint-Jean-de-Luz
- Louts, left tributary of the Adour downstream from Dax, in Chalosse.
In Gascon, lohizun becomes generally luz /lüs̪/ :
