[edit] Welcome

Hello, Loghead1, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --Ardenn 22:02, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

[edit] Sockpuppets

Thanks for your question. If you lost your password, and you didn't register an email address at which you could be emailed your password, a new account might be a sockpuppet. Some sockpuppets are okay. Where you could get into trouble is if you create multiple accounts to sway a "vote" for example. I hope this helps. Ardenn 02:05, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

They can check your IP address against yours. It's sometimes hard to see if you are him, as there are only a few tools given. --Ardenn 01:56, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Talk pages

There's debate over that. Generally it is encouraged that you should archive your talk page, so that people think you know what is going on. OTOH, all the previous messages can be accessed from your history. So, I would wait until your talk page get's to a certain length, and then archive. If a message a personal attack, or vandalizm, then you can generally remove it. Ardenn 15:48, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Embrun Airport

Airports are notable, so they page can stay at its own article. I would recommend you make the necessary changes to the article. -- Earl Andrew - talk 18:22, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

See Talk:Embrun Airport for my reply. Do you have a source that says it's closed because NAV CANDA says it's a registered aerodrome. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 13:25, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

The user is User:74.14.123.243. I have warned the user, but the user was previously insufficiently warned, therefore the user can't be reported. You can check this by comparing revisions on the page's history, by putting the green circles in the circles and hitting the Compare Revisions button. Thanks for contacting me. [edit] Russell, Ontario

Please check my talk page for my response to your question. -Billy227 20:43, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Awards

I have responded on my talk page, O fellow Ontarian. Eleland 04:14, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: block this IP

I'm not an admin. In future try Wikipedia:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism, aka WP:AIV, but only if the guy is "obvious and persistent"; this guy was messing around for fifteen minutes and probably doesn't qualify. Eleland 12:10, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AIV

Sorry, this is probably a little late, but you'd want to report it to WP:AIV. You've probably found this out by now. Thanks for inquiring, though, regards, Cool Bluetalk to me 12:36, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
