I do not think these explanations are quite right: Symbolic logic, the area of mathematics which studies the purely formal properties of strings of symbols Mathematical logic, a branch of mathematics which grew out of symbolic logic --Philogo (talk) 13:36, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
