Loggers Leap

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Loggers Leap is a Log Flume ride in Thorpe Park. It was the tallest log flume ride in the UK when it opened, and regained that record after the removal of "Nightmare Niagara" from the American Adventure theme park near Nottingham. Logger's Leap was opened in 1989 as part of the new Canada Creek area of the park. The ride is manufactured by Mack.

Riders board their boat at the station where the boats move along on a conveyor belt. Each log seats up to 5 riders, and so sometimes smaller groups (2's and 3's) are asked to share boats to speed up the queue. The boat makes a small drop out of the station and meanders around to a dark tunnel. In pitch blackness the boats climbs a small lift hill before dropping (still in darkness). The ride meanders a bit more, and occasionally riders may spot a passing train on the Canada Creek Railway before climbing up the second (taller) lift hill. The boat then does a double drop (drop > flat > drop) before splashing at the bottom. The boat then meanders back to the station.

Riders are given the opportunity of purchasing an on-ride photo at the ride exit.

The ride also utilises Fastrack on busy days to help riders reduce their queue time for the ride.
