[edit] Retailers

It is home to over 230 stores, including the major supermarkets Coles, Woolworths, BI-LO Mega Frrresh and Aldi; major variety retailers Kmart and Big W; 2 floor department store Myer; and clothing department store Best And Less. There is also a 12-cinema movie theatre known as Hyperplex cinemas.

[edit] History

Built after the closure and demolition of Wild Waters water park, the Hyperdome first opened in August 1989. It received upgrades in May 1990, October 1997, December 1998 and March 2005. The October 1997 upgrade was the largest upgrade when both BI-LO and Big W were added along with around 50 specialty stores and a 2-storey carpark. The most recent upgrade in 2005 included upgrading the Birch, Carol & Coyle 'Hyperplex' cinemas to 12 (previously 'Pacific 8') and installing a bowling alley (AMF Hyperbowl), another carpark and several restaurants and bars such as Hogs Breath Cafe, Cactus Jacks and Gilhooleys....

[edit] Hyperdome Home Centre

In addition, the Hyperdome Home Centre separated from the main Hyperdome mall area by a private road, is home to a number of specialty home and lifestyle outlets including Clive Peeters, Amart All Sports and Civic Video.

[edit] Transport

It contains a bus station for TransLink services, with 15 min or greater frequencies to the Brisbane CBD in peak hour.

[edit] Future

It was expected that Coles and Kmart will be replaced with the new Coles SuperCentre in 2007/8. Bi-Lo may also be replaced with a Target or Officeworks in line with the new Coles Group strategy, but at present is being replaced by another Coles Supermarket. However, with the takeover of the Coles Group by Wesfarmers, this strategy has been put on hold.
