Logan Grimnar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Logan Grimnar is a fictional character from the tabletop game Warhammer 40,000. He is the Chapter Master of the Space Wolves chapter of the game. He is among the most belligerent and headstrong Chapter Masters in the Imperium. His name is feared throughout the galaxy, as is the name of his axe, Morkai, a fell weapon which Logan took from a Chaos champion he defeated in battle.
Grimnar accepts no outside interference in the running of his chapter, and in his five hundred year reign he has led the Space Wolves willingly (and some would say joyfully) to many victories. As a result of this, many of the Imperial Commanders within the Fenris system are grateful to be under the Old Wolf's watchful eye.
Grimnar is also a rarity amongst the Chapter Masters and Imperial leaders in general, for he is more respected and loved than feared by those lying under his protection. Grimnar remains the only Space Marine, and Imperial servant for that matter, who spoke out against the Inquisition's actions following the First Armageddon War. To suppress all information about the true nature of the attack, the Inquisition had the survivors of the conflict sterilized en masse, and marched them in chains to forced labour camps. Within ten years, all the camp inmates were dead, a poor reward for the Imperium's loyal servants.
Since then, his chapter has thwarted the ambitions of lesser Imperial agents, and it is only his loyalty and exemplary conduct that his chapter has not been declared Excommunicate Traitoris.
In the book Wolf's Honour by Lee Lightner, Grimnar hints at a possible knowledge of the Thirteenth Company's mission after Ragnar Blackmane relates his story of how he and his companions were saved by the Thirteenth Company's intervention.
Since the 13th Black Crusade, Logan Grimnar's fate remains a mystery; the last report of his appearance being the Space Wolf chapter master deep behind Chaos lines with the rest of the 1st Great Company.
