I created this entry as part of the process of disambiguating Loftus, North Yorkshire and Loftus, New South Wales, because I came across a link to a Loftus in the article Long barrow (where the long barrow at Street House is described as being near Loftus in West Yorkshire).

However I can find no reference to a Loftus in West Yorkshire in either Google, or the Ordnance Survey's usually reliable placename gazeteer.

So I'm wondering if I've just perpetuated a pre-existing error. Anybody know any better?. -- Chris j wood 12:11, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

There's no such place! The long barrow at Street House is east of Loftus in North Yorkshire! JimChampion 01:55, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
