[edit] Anti-OSS/My choices in software

I use Firefox because it is more secure than IE. I used to use Thunderbird because it was free and fast (I use webmail now). Vim is my favorite editor.

I do not like Linux.

I am still anti-OSS, however. Notice Winamp in the list. It is my favorite media player. I don't care if it is OSS or not.

I buy software on occasion. I feel that this is important, as it supports smaller businesses, while open-source generally benefits larger businesses who can afford offshore technical support for their (obviously deliberate) difficult-to-use products.

I maintain several OSS products which I developed. However, they are only OSS because I don't stand a chance in selling them, as I could have in the shareware days. OSS (as well as easy piracy brought about by the Internet) killed shareware and severely limited the ability of small businesses to make money selling software.

[edit] Space Pilot 3000 GA nom

Hi, I'm not sure how active you are right now but I have nominated Space Pilot 3000 for GA status and it is on hold for review. Since you were previously interested in this article I was hoping you'd take a moment to read the concerns on the talk page and see if you could make any improvements to the article. Thanks. [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Blacktemplars.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Blacktemplars.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 10:30, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Plase Stop making threats

Stop making threats to defend user man with red shoes. Making false accusations against new editors is against wikipedia policies. WP:BITE If you are really interested in making users respect Wikipedia policies then ask man with red shoes to stop his aggressive and rude language. Otherwise you seem to be using "warnings" only as a way to silence those who do not agree with your views. --Grandscribe (talk) 15:22, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm a new user. I spend a lot of time (too much) to read and learn the editing rules and wikipedia policy. That is why I have the "grasp" of editing you mentioned. I'm taking my time before publishing good articles(I hope) in wikipedia. I participate in the discussion because there was a request for comments that I thought was open to any user old or new.
Excuse me but your phrase: "You stop being generally anti-social, cherry picking, falsely accusing people, etc... " is far from true. What you call "cherry picking is to cite my sources WP:CITE ...falsely accusing people?? I brought to the attention of the other users the behavior of man with red shoes who is cursing all the time.WP:CIVILITY And I don't see anywhere any anti-social activity from me. If it is true, show that to me please. Gather evidence I did any of those things before accusing me, please. I have been very polite and avoided the constant provocations and cursing language of user man with red shoes. I can prove that. I'd expect you to demand to that user to stop his anti social behavior. I know you agree with him on the topic of not using the name GNU/Linux in wikipedia. Is that why you don't warn him to control his language? I assume good faith from your part. You can leave him a message here User_talk:Man_with_one_red_shoe.
Localzuk. I understand that we can have disagreements. We should respect each other and do some positive work for this project.

Reply to your 2nd message on my talk page.
Localzuk, ok I will put my best efforts to overcome any communication problems. Above anything else I am willing to take part in Wikipedia not to waste my time (or yours) in personal fights with other users. We both want to participate with our modest but positive contributions to help this encycopledia project. Please just understand that we may have different ways to see things. We should focus on the things we agree and respect eah other. No personal attacks. If I did make any mistake in my expressions I do apologize to you. I have already asked politely to man with red shoes to stop using the profane language and rude remarks on his talk page. He deleted this message from his talk page. Yet I'll assume good faith. I will consider that he has read it and accepted to change his tone. --Grandscribe (talk) 14:54, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Linux

Regarding your edit summary: "no. It is about the system that the world and it's brother call Linux". The article is actually named Linux, which satisfies the fact that this is the most common name, so I do not see the need for your edit. The article clearly states that an "alternative name [is] GNU/Linux" which means it is not about all operating systems that use the Linux kernel, but only GNU/Linux. -- Borb (talk) 17:56, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
