Loco, Switzerland

Loco is a village and former municipality in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland.

It was first recorded in year 1224 as Loco.

The municipality also contained the villages Niva and Rossa. It had 684 inhabitants in 1795, which increased to 689in 1808. It then went up and down to 600 in 1850, 745 in 1860 and 634 in 1880. From there it declined further to 402 in 1900, 289 in 1930, 258 in 1950 and 254 in 2000.

In 2001 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Auressio and Berzona to form a new and larger municipality Isorno.
