[edit] History

Lockwood Broadcasting began operations in the early 1990s by upstarting a television station WPEN.[1] In 1997, Lockwood purchased WAWB, then The WB affiliate from Bell Broadcasting, LLC. changing the call letters to WUPV and affiliation to UPN. Late 1990s, early 2000, Lockwood purchased KTEN, once an ABC affiliate, became an NBC affiliate, and also brought UPN affiliate WHDF in 2004.[2]

On January 24, 2006, the UPN and WB networks announced that they would merge into a new network called The CW. On April 4, 2006, Lockwood Broadcasting announced that they have signed affiliation deals with The CW to become affiliates on the new network.

Before the launch of The CW, in August 2006, Lockwood Broadcasting sold WUPV to Southeastern Media Holdings, a division of Raycom Media.
