Lockwood is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yellowstone County, Montana, United States. The population at the 2000 census was an estimated 4,306. In 2004, the population was estimated to be at 7,200[citation needed]. Lockwood is a Billings suburb. Annexation of Lockwood to Billings has been proposed.[citation needed]

Lockwood is located at 45°48′27″N, 108°25′25″W (45.807504, -108.423600)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.9 square miles (20.4 km²), of which, 7.5 square miles (19.3 km²) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.1 km²) of it (5.46%) is water.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 4,306 people, 1,599 households, and 1,178 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 577.5 people per square mile (222.9/km²). There were 1,676 housing units at an average density of 224.8/sq mi (86.7/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 93.06% White, 0.46% African American, 2.67% Native American, 0.35% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 1.02% from other races, and 2.32% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.74% of the population.

There were 1,599 households out of which 40.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.7% were married couples living together, 12.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.3% were non-families. 20.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.10.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 29.9% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 31.7% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 101.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.4 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $34,768, and the median income for a family was $37,965. Males had a median income of $29,692 versus $20,216 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $14,579. About 9.2% of families and 9.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 12.8% of those under age 18 and 6.8% of those age 65 or over.
