Lockdown Project is an alternative hip hop group hailing from southern England. Most commonly known simply as Lockdown or LDP, they are a fusion of the local areas best young rappers and musicians.

Lockdown Project stand out as they are perhaps the only English rap group that are not grime or garage style based. Instead, they fuse old school hip hop with electronica and ambient beats to create a more laid back sound to perform over. Most of Lockdown are also capable musicians, performing onstage in a variety of local bands. Their musical ability allows them to record instrumental tracks for their own use. Founding MC's Prophet of Rage and H Bomb stand out from the English rap culture as their lyrics are on the most part either politically motivated or G Funk based, and delivered more in the style of American rather than UK hip hop.

The groups major influences are old school hip hop groups such as Public Enemy and The Furious Five, both pioneers of the political rap scene.
