One more vote for Robinson Projection. Using the Mercator Projection in this way distorts the size of the entire planet to make Europe look as big as possible. Moreover the creator of the map is clearly attempting to make Europe look as central as possible by cutting off Antarctica (which would be equally distorted into something larger that Eurasia it it were included). Since the point of the image it to show the EU's position in the world, it should be relative to the rest of the world, not distorted to make it look more impressive. Greenland should be about the size of Algeria, not Africa. Scandinavia should be the size of Anatolia, not the Arabian Peninsula. And Svalbard should be the same distance from Finmark as Madagascar is from Mozambique. If anyone has forgotted what the world proportions actually look like (I mean you Europeans!), then look at a globe. Europe is the smallest 'continent'.
