Lobo (lit. Wolf) is a fantasy thriller series of ABS-CBN which premiered last January 28, 2008. It starred by Angel Locsin on the lead role. [2]

[edit] Synopsis
The plot revolves around young lovers Lyka Raymundo and Noah Ortega. Lyka is a young woman aspiring to be a fashion designer and is currently working as a fashion assistant in the House of Elle. Her decision to pursue the arts is frowned upon by her Tita Clara Rivero because it according to her, it is not a practical choice.
Lyka and Noah are childhood friends but they were separated from each other. Years later, their paths shall cross when Noah became a second lieutenant of the Philippine Army. During a crucial mission, he saved Don Manolo Sebastian and became involved in the battle between the Luna and the Waya.
Now Lyka is working under the House of Elle, as Lady Elle's assistant. She has been accepted into the job as Lady Elle thinks Lyka is their last hope: "Ang Huling Bantay". Lyka meets Noah, Lady Elle's bodyguard and driver. Little did she know that he is actually her childhood friend, "JayJay" whom she thought was long dead.
The blossoming romance between the two is hindered by the presence of Gabrielle Dizon and Anton Rivero. Gabrielle is a deep-penetration agent who attempts to distract Noah while Anton is in love with Lyka and will do anything to prove his love.
There are two opposing groups in the story-the Luna and the Waya. The members of the Luna organization have a grudge against the werewolves while the Waya are the protectors of the lobo. The Waya are protectors of the werewolves and they want the lobo to co-exist harmoniously with human beings.[citation needed]

In 2004, Lobo was already planned to make as a project of ABS-CBN[citation needed] before it was all about siblings who were both wolves. Robin Padilla was the first choice of ABS-CBN for the role Noah with Kristine Hermosa as Lyka but was failed because he transferred to GMA Network. In early 2007, John Lloyd Cruz and Anne Curtis were also offered for the lead role but turned down the offers because both of them must do their roles for the Book 2 of Maging Sino Ka Man.[citation needed] The show was only started and made when Angel Locsin finally tranferred to ABS-CBN and the management decided to paired her to the hottest actor of ABS-CBN, Piolo Pascual. Heart Evangelista was also offered for the role where Shaina Magdayao.[citation needed]. The choosing of the dog playing the animagus alter-ego of Lyka isn't easy, ABS-CBN bought a Pure breed dog transporting specially from France, Brasca the dog cost P200,000. The series is expected to end this July, 2008.[3]

The show premiered in January 28, 2008 having 27.7%, the highest reception among (Palos and Kung Fu Kids) in Mega Manila ratings.[4] The whole cast of Lobo including Angel was so ecstatic with the warm recepcion of the viewers to their first episode of her show in ABS-CBN.[5]. The teleserye holds the 3rd Most-watched Weekday program in NUTAM Survey for March 2008[6].

Lobo was promoted in ABS-CBN together with Kung Fu Kids and Palos in the celebration of ABS-CBN's 55th anniversary. The series was part of the Great January 28, 2008 program of ABS-CBN. The plot was alo identified in the primer of the show, together with Kung Fu Kids and Palos. Hosted by no other than Boy Abunda and Ruffa Gutierrez.

The series' theme song is sung respectfully by the Philippines Concert King, Martin Nievera and written and composed by veteran singer Ogie Alcasid. The song was especialaly made the singer for his special someone, and gave to Lobo the oppporunity to tell this.
