[edit] Your account

I have blocked this username becuase it violates our policy on usernames, as it is promotional. I also note that, per your userpage, this is a role account that is going to be used for a company. I point you to our conflict of interest policy, our neutrality policy, and encourage you to take those under advisement. If you would like, I will unblock this account so that you may request a username change to a name that follows the aforementioned policy. If you have any futher questions or need assistance, feel free to ask me on my talk page once you have been renamed or registered a new account that follows our policies. Until such time, you may ask here and I will respond here. Thank you. seresin | wasn't he just...? 01:32, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for alerting us. Obviously we are new to Wikipedia and were not aware of this policy. We are a not-for-profit medical group and we wanted to add an entry to Wikipedia for the Palo Alto Medical Clinic so that readers could have a good source of information about us, similar to the entry currently up for the Mayo Clinic, and editors could have something to respond to and add to. We want to be honest about who were are because we want the Wikipedia editors to hold us to a strict standard of non-promotion. How is this typically handled?
Several things here. Firstly, when having threaded conversations on talk pages like these, it helps to indent conversations via colons (:) at the beginning of the text. Secondly, when commenting on talk pages, it also helps to sign your comments via typing four tildes ~~~~. As for the question, there are options available. Currently, you will not be able to edit pages other than this one until you are unblocked. You should either create a new account, or, if you would rather (this route would probably also be more transparent), you may request a rename. If you choose to take the former route, then just create the new account, and then you can alert me on my talk page so that I know who you are and can help you further. If you would rather do the latter, then make a note here what name you would like, and I'll get it done for you.
After that is settled, you wish to create the article. In order to do so, it will need to show that it is a notable organization, and the article must be fully verified by reliable sources, and maitain a neutral, objective point of view. In order to show notability, you should search for times where other people have covered your organization significantly. A good place to find these are in news articles. You can do some google searches, and see what is out there about your organization. Unfortunately, if we cannot find sources to indicate that your organization is not notable, an article on it will be deleted, and we want to avoid that. When you know what you wish to do about this account, get back to me here, and we can go from there. If you find some articles like the ones I mentioned before, then we can get started on the article. If not, we'll see what options are available. seresin | wasn't he just...? 00:20, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. This is very helpful. Would you rename the account LKauffman? There are many mentions in print and online publications about us, so for now I will just put in five links to some newspaper articles about us. Please let me know if you need any more.

Wonderful! Those are excellent sources. I have placed a request for renaming; the account should be renamed shortly, depending on how active our bureaucrats choose to be ;) Odds are good that by the next time you login, you will have been renamed. Your password will still be the same, so just login with LKauffman.
When you're able, I suggest creating an article in a subpage of yours; User:LKauffman/article should do fine. You can work on the article here and get it perfect without any interference. Be sure to include as many sources as you can; verification is always wonderful. If you would like any help creating or formatting the article, feel free to let me know and I'll help however I can. Once you create the article, let me know, and I'll help you move it into the mainspace if you need it. You will probably even be able to nomiate it for Did You Know?. If you need any further assistance, feel free to ask. seresin | wasn't he just...? 04:09, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you so much! I really appreciate all of your help guiding me through this process, and I am so pleased that the sources I sent meet your requirements. PAMedicalFoundation (talk) 00:50, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Of course. It seems the bureaucrats have not gotten around to renames yet — just be patient, it will hopefully be done the next time you login. And a mild point, the aren't my requirements, but rather the requirements of our notability guideline. So keep gathering sources, and you should be renamed soon, and you can start. seresin | wasn't he just...? 03:33, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Pamf.gif

Thank you for uploading Image:Pamf.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:16, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for alerting me. I have updated the rationalle for use to comply with standards. Please let me know if anything else is necessary. The organization gave me the logo, so I can easily get a letter giving permission. Thanks LKauffman (talk) 23:44, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Just so you know, that's an automated message from a bot, so it won't be replying :) As for the image, the FU rationale would qualify, but per our fair-use policy, non-free images must exist in a mainspace article, and only a mainspace article. At the moment, it does not, and therefore will probably be deleted in the next five days. If your article is not ready for mainspace by then, it should be deleted. This will not be a problem; when you move the article to mainspace I'll restore it for you. seresin | wasn't he just...? 00:16, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Pamf.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Pamf.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:11, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
