[edit] Interstate 215 (Nevada)

Do you have a source that says the western terminus is at I-15? The federal funds that were provided build the highway to Decatur. It was signed to there as I-215 until well after the CC-215 opened wast of Decatur. The signage was only changed to avoid confusion. That does not mean the road between I-15 and Decatur is not offically I-215. If there is a source to support that section not being I-215 I would love to see it. Vegaswikian 20:46, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] USRD Inactivity check and news report

Hello, Ljthefro. We had a few urgent matters to communicate to you:

  1. Please update your information at Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Participants, our new centralized participant list. Those who have not done so by October 20th will be removed.
  2. There are important discussions taking place at WT:USRD relating to whether WP:USRD, WP:HWY, or the state projects should hold the "power" in the roads projects.

[edit] 2 Q's about Nevada Highways:

Ljthefro, Nice to see some help on Nevada Highway articles, for a while I was feeling pretty overwhelmed =-) Two questions: 1- I see you undid my edit about the cut-and-cover tunnel on I-80 under the Walgreen's in Reno. I have not been able to find an official source on if this is a tunnel or what. Most personal roadgeek sites do refer to it as a cut-and-cover tunnel. I swear when I last checked the inventory tag had a T prefix instead of a B, implying tunnel. What's your take on it?

You are right. I've since confirmed the inventory tag is for a bridge, not a tunnel. It's not a tunnel despite what others have said. The cover now used as the foundation for Walgreens has been there for years, if not decades. However the building is only about 5 years old. Davemeistermoab (talk) 03:12, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

2-It's been on my get around to it list to merge several stub articles for Nevada Roads (i.e. do we really need 10 stub articles on streets in Carson City that have been given route numbers by NDOT?, why not 1 long article?) That would include merging NV650 and NV651 to a single article on McCarren Blvd. (Then having those articles re-direct). There is precedence for this, and the infobox road template does support multiple route shields for a single article. I've done that before. To me that is the right thing to do, what's your opinion of that? Davemeistermoab (talk) 17:58, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

For some precedence see Interstate 210 and State Route 210 (California), Interstate 110 and State Route 110 (California). These were all separate articles until recently.Davemeistermoab (talk) 03:12, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

P.S. Thanks for the compliment. I took a lot of photos for upgrades to NV articles. On my get around to it list. =-) Davemeistermoab (talk) 03:13, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

There is precedent for combining several short/somewhat related articles into a longer article also. For example, List of minor state routes in New York. There are others. IMO that is better than 10 articles all 1 paragraph in length.

I just realized I never answered one of the questions you left on my talk page. I'm sorry. Most states (Nevada included) mark all bridges and tunnels with an inventory number. These are used for tracking federal inspections, funding, etc. In Nevada's case they are usually spray painted on the first pillar for under crossings and on the right side of the bridge deck for over crossings. If you are so inclined, you can jot down the inventory number of your favorite bridge, go to the Federal Highway Administration's website and see the last inspection report.Davemeistermoab (talk) 15:30, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I-80 in NV

Why did you remove the exit 32 shade in light gray from the exit list. I thouhgt permanently close means close only for a long time. Doesn't mean it is close forever.--Freewayguy (Webmail) 21:07, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Nevada State Route 562

If there is an error, why don't you fix it then? Not trying to be rude, but if you caught a mistake in an edit I made, by all means try to correct it... --Dbm11085 (talk) 04:58, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] NV State Route articles in Las Vegas

Those road are not know by the state route names. They are only know by the local designations. Yes, this is also true for all of these roads. In you look at Russell Road as one example, the state portion is .7 miles and yet this road is probably 15 miles are so long and is a major section line arterial. So while the state route designation may provide some notability it is but a fraction of the total road length. To try and label the entire road by the SR designation is misleading. I believe that just about every article reference to these roads, other then other SR articles is to the common name. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:54, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Actually there are several roads with multiple links and more can be added. They were not liked before since they were redlinks. With the rename, the articles can be greatly expanded. I guess the question might be how do we get from the SR to the street name? Assuming the road is notable. Vegaswikian (talk) 00:27, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
So I guess the question is how to determine which articles go which way. When you know where to have the discussion, an announcement on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Las Vegas might get more interested parties. Vegaswikian (talk) 00:46, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Some Nevada history

It should be noted that some marked routes (the ones that got no number post-renumbering) were never actually maintained by the state. Unfortunately I don't have a source for this. --NE2 17:59, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
