Elizabeth "Liz" Burton (previously Taylor) was a fictional character on the long-running Channel 4 British television soap opera Hollyoaks.
She was played by actress Andrée Bernard and appeared between 2003-2006.

Liz is the archetypal overwrought mother of 3 teenagers and spends her life trying to maintain the peace between her offspring, whose father committed suicide. She had a difficult relationship with stepdaughter Darlene, made worse when Darlene found out that her brother Ali had (accidentally) stabbed school bully Stephen "Macki" Mackintosh, but told everybody she suspected Liz's son Justin. Darlene changed her story in court, which contributed towards Justin being acquitted of killing Macki. Liz was grateful to Darlene for this.
After Justin returned home, Liz chucked Richard out for having an affair with a colleague but said Darlene could stay with them. Liz had decided that her family should move away from Hollyoaks to Colchester, to start afresh. However, all of her children were unwilling to move with her and she left Hollyoaks, without Mel, Sophie and Justin. Unfortunately, if the twins had left with Liz instead of staying, they would not have died in the fire at The Dog in The Pond. In fact, it is likely that the fire would never have occurred, as it was started by Sophie's ex, Sam Owen, in an attempt to gain some revenge for her turning him over to the police & her subsequent relationship with his brother, Russ.

- Her name is a reference to actress Elizabeth Taylor's marriages to actor Richard Burton.[citation needed]
- After her two daughters, Mel and Sophie, died in an explosion, it is unusual that she did not appear at her own two daughter's funeral.(though it was explained on screen that liz had been hospitalized at this time from the shock of both her daughters deaths)
