[edit] Date of construction

A number of travel websites wrongly state that the memorial was erected in 1973, 100 years after DL's death, but they have been mislead by the plaque which was added in 1973 to mark the centenary. When I visited it in 1971 the monument was already pretty old. I haven't been able to confirm when it was constructed but I have put 'the 1920s', from memory. If anyone knows the actual year can they please add it. Rexparry sydney 02:45, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
