Talk:Livingston, West Lothian
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The article states that Livingston Station is now called "Deans South". This is not true. Livingston Station was a Small village, Deans South was in fact a street that was added to Livingston Station in the early 60s. This was the first new houses in what we now call Livingston. The council changed the name of Livingston Station, Deans South inclusive, to Deans, this was much to the dismay of the "Station Locals". Some of the original Station houses are still in existance today, but the sad fact is, Deans South that was erected in the 60s, is to be totally flattened.
You obviously know your stuff, why don't you edit the article to add and replace info as appropriate? Fraslet 18:56, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Deans south and Livingston station both now form parts of "Deans". Deans is the actual residential precinct and takes in Livingston Station, Deans South and Carmondean. Sources;

[edit] Bellsquarry
Bellsquarry wasn't included in the original plan for Livingston. it is only in the last 10-15 years that it is becoming subsumed. Previously Bellsquarry had seperate phone code outwith the livingston 4, which was changed to reflect it's growing interconnectedness with Livi. Even today, Bellsquarry is still onyl beginning to be physically connected. The new garish building of tacky McMansions on the Murieston backroad is beginning to join it in. --Brideshead 19:19, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Bellquarry was in the original plan. I can even source it from;
Both these books make reference to Bellsquarry being within the original designated area for the new town and have indicative plans showing this.
