[edit] History

The present Livonia High School was established in Livonia in 1915.[1] The following year, 1916, this school was combined to also inlcude all of the students from Valverda and Dreyfus schools. The present Livonia High building was built in 1936. It was originally a two story brick building. The second floor was lost to a fire in the 1950's. After the 1991 school year, Livonia High was scheduled to be closed down as part of a parish wide school consolidation plan that resulted in the establishment of Pointe Coupee Central High School. Due to public outcry, the school was spared from closure and is still in operation as the only high school servicing the southern portion of Pointe Coupee Parish.[citation needed]
