[edit] Diversity

There are students from many different backgrounds. Students from Mexico, India, Portugal, and the United States, as well as other countries, attend the school.

Breakdown by ethnicity:[1].

[edit] Classes

Usually, the classes are approximately an hour in length. The school does not provide as much of a wide area of subjects as other schools in the district. There are only a couple AP classes for students who plan to attend college. Subjects include English, mathematics, science, social science, etc. Other subjects include foreign language, photography, art, and band. The school provides tutoring to students in need of help for their classes as well.

Because the number of students is quite large, the classrooms hold approximately twenty-five students per classroom. There are six periods per day (with the exception of Minimum Days) which totals to about 125 students per teacher.

[edit] Schedules

The days at school begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 2:50 p.m. On Wednesdays there is a "collaboration" schedule where the classes start at 8:30 a.m. but still end at 2:50 p.m. On Activity Schedule, there is a period of about thirty minutes where students spend time studying, working, or attending club meetings. The students must be in a classroom or in the library.

[edit] Minimum Days

On Minimum Days, students start at 8:00 a.m. and leave at noon. Usually, Minimum Days are scheduled due to final exams or part of state testing. There are some minimum days before holidays.

[edit] Vacation Days

Students receive various vacation days including the holidays. The Thanksgiving Vacation, as an example, is where students do not attend classes for the entire week of the Thanksgiving holiday. Summer vacation usually begins around early June and students return to school at mid-August.[1].

[edit] Students

The school puts on rallies, and plays for the students. Very few dances are actually carried out due to lack of attendance. The school hosts Winter Formal, Sadie hawkins, and Prom, but the 2008 Sadie Hawkins dance was canceled. 2008 marks the 83nd annual graduation ceremony for the students. Round-up is when students get their schedules and textbooks. This is done in August about one week before the first day of school.
