The Liverpool Art Prize is a new competition of contemporary art open to professional artists based in the Merseyside area of the United Kingdom. It is one of the new major Art prizes in the UK.
The inaugural competition is taking place in Spring 2008 and was inspired by the fact that the Turner Prize was held in Liverpool in 2007 at the Tate Gallery
Shortlisted for 2008 were artists Imogen Stidworthy, The Singh Twins, Gareth Kemp [1] Mary Fitzpatrick, Photographer[2] Sculptor Emma Rodgers and installation Artist Jayne Lawless
