Live Scenes from New York is a 3 disc live album by progressive metal band Dream Theater, recorded on August 30, 2000, at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Live Scenes from New York is the audio counterpart to the Metropolis 2000: Scenes from New York DVD, released in early 2001.
It was originally released on September 11, 2001, but when it was noticed that the cover artwork depicted the twin towers of the World Trade Center in flames, it was recalled and re-released a short time later. Some copies with the original artwork still exist, and are now a rare collectors item.

[edit] Trivia
Trivia sections are discouraged under Wikipedia guidelines. The article could be improved by integrating relevant items and removing inappropriate ones. |
- The album contains, to date, the only complete live performance of Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory on general release.
- It also marks the first live Dream Theater release to feature Jordan Rudess on keyboards.
- The performance of "A Change of Seasons" on this album contains a baseball theme (played by John Myung), the theme tune to TV series The Simpsons (played by John Petrucci) and a piano solo, the ending to "When the Water Breaks" from the album Liquid Tension Experiment 2 (played by Jordan Rudess) that were not included in the original EP release.
- Mike Portnoy can be heard shouting several times throughout the CD:
- During "Home", at 8:52, he shouts "Who wants to come?" (This question was part of a sound clip that was played at this point in the studio version).
- During "Acid Rain", at 1:48, he shouts "Awww...shake that thing, mamma!"
- The track "Caught in a New Millennium" is a combination of "Caught in a Web" from the album Awake and "New Millennium" from the album Falling into Infinity.
