Liu Yunfei (刘云飞) is a Chinese football player who most recently plays the goalkeeper for Shanghai Shenhua. He played for Tianjin Teda mostly as Jiang Jin's backup until 2001, when Jiang was called up to national duty. Liu won the Jia A goalkeeper of the year award in 2001.
Meanwhile, Zong Lei, another goalkeeper in the Tianjin team, was also called up by the national U-23 team. After returning from national duty, Jiang Jin lost the starter position and went to Shanghai Zhongyuan in 2002, Zong Lei left in 2003. In the 2004 AFC Asian Cup, Liu was the starter and a hero in the semifinal penalty shootout.
Liu transferred to Shanghai Shenhua in 2006, where his teammate in the national team Yu Weiliang was a starter goalkeeper. He started a few games, but was suspended later for discipline problems. Liu became a free agent after the contract with Shanghai Shenhua expired.
In March 2007, Liu was arrested for possessing illegal drugs[1]. So he was retired at only age 27.
