Liu Wei (simplified Chinese: 刘炜) is a Chinese basketball player. He plays for the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. [1]
[edit] Basketball career
Liu Wei played with Yao Ming for ten years on the Sharks before Yao went to the NBA.[2] He first came to America in 1998 to play for an AAU team, and joined the national team in 2000. [1]
Before the 2004-2005 NBA season, when the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings played each other twice in the "China Games", the Kings signed Liu for the preseason. However, he was not picked up after the end of the preseason, after playing in three games and recording 2 points and 4 rebounds in 34 minutes. [3] He has since gone back to play for the Sharks in the CBA.
