[edit] Shadowbot

While you may believe that Shadowbot is being destructive, it is actually doing a fairly good job with removing Imageshack and Photobucket spam, among other things. Also, please do not try to reformat Shadowbot's talk page, it is my responsibility and I can deal with warnings myself. Shadow1 (talk) 13:58, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Well, after reviewing everything, and noticing that you're a fairly new user, here's my explanation. Shadowbot, as stated on its user page, is a bot that is designed to remove spam from Wikipedia, which is why it removes users' contributions. If you like, you can read its request for approval here. There are a great deal of other bots on Wikipedia that remove contributions as well, including AntiVandalBot and VoABot II. All of these bots are specifically designed to remove bad contributions from Wikipedia, and, as with most computer software, they make mistakes sometimes. My bot is no exception. While the other users in the anti-spam project and myself do the best we can, sometimes we add links to Shadowbot's blacklist that create problems, however, we try to work closely with the users to ensure that no problems arise. I've personally gone through the blacklist just now and removed any blacklist rules that created the problems in the first place, so you can rest assured that Shadowbot should not be reverting anything it shouldn't.
