Little Rock Indian School

Little Rock Indian School is one of the premier educational institutions in Karnataka, India. It took its humble birth in 1982, thanks to the vision of Dr C.T. Abraham, the Founder of Little Rock. An educationist himself he did not believe in replicating the traditional school. Dr C.T. Abraham visualized ‘a school with a difference’, endowed with material and human resources, which would match up to the best in the country. This beautiful 30-acre campus is located near Brahmavar is on National Highway No. 17, about 72 km north of the coastal city of Mangalore.

[edit] Little Rock Alumni network

Although Little Rock does not have an official alumni association yet, a handful of alumni have worked together to create a lose network of alumni groups on yahoogroups. You may find information about the alumni groups in the external links section in the bottom of the page.

In addition, members of the alumni have come together to maintain the littlerocker - an alumni blog maintains information regarding the alumni.

Little Rock is slated to have a silver jubilee alumni reunion in December 2006, when a formal alumni association is likely to be formed.

Now managed by Prof. Mathew C. Ninan, Little Rock has won accolades all over South Karnataka for its leadership in education. The management is composed of individuals with rich experience in the field of education both in India and abroad.

LRIS follows the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and uses English as the medium of instruction. The national language and regional languages are given due importance. With approxiamately 3,000 students, its one of the largest schools in the region and is optionally residential. School buses transport children and staff from a radius of 25 to 30 km daily to and from the School. The School owns 30 buses now.

COMPUTER LITERACY EXCELLENCE AWARD 2002

National recognition to Little Rock came in the form of the Computer Literacy Excellence Award of the Ministry of Information Technology, Govt of India. Little Rock was adjudged the best school in Computer education in Karnataka State. The Hon’ble President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam presented the award to the Principal in August 2002.
