Little Island, Cork

Little Island is an industrial and residential area to the east of Cork City. Many of Cork's pharmaceutical companies are based on the island. In recent years development on Little Island has grown rapidly, with developments such as East Gate which consists of retail and commercial development. The main drainage sewage treatment plant for Cork City is based in Little Island. There are also two golf clubs located here, Harbour Point Golf Club and Cork Golf Club.

It is situated on the Cork-Cobh railway line and has direct rail services to Cork, Cobh, Mallow and from 2008 Midleton. Little Island railway station opened on 10 November 1859.[1]
